Brothers,
I applied for a master’s degree in Social Sciences with a focus on “Culture, Environment and Sustainability” from the academic year 2020.
My professional ambition was to become an environmental analyst with basic knowledge of environmental sustainability in the social sciences.
Since I was in middle school, I was very excited to study social sciences. This leads to my ambition to explore social theories at the university level.
This academic journey took me to a sociology scholarship at Hayam Wuruk University and since then I have been exposed to the diversity of sociological theories in all fields.
My passionate learning was very useful and inspiring, and in the end, I was able to get a bachelor’s degree in sociology in May 2019.
Shortly after graduating, I was selected as a researcher for a prestigious international research program commissioned by In-Of-Balance (ISB), a collaboration between Hayam Wuruk University and the University of Agder (UiA) in Norway was given.
This research focuses on “The Rise of Environmental Youth Organizations in Indonesia”. My involvement in youth and environmental research has really helped me to better understand the important role of young people in solving environmental problems.
I am increasingly interested in environmental issues since joining this environmental research project. The research process has allowed me to expand my network among environmental activists in Indonesia.
Based on this experience, I believe that the University of Oslo’s Center for Environment and Sustainability (SUM) is the right place to study and enrich my knowledge.
In addition to my strong interest in academic research, I also improve my leadership, communication and social networking skills.
I was fortunate enough to have an interesting opportunity as a team leader in the Research Scholarship Program for 2018 students. As a team leader, I coordinate projects from start to finish.
At the end of November 2018, I was appointed as Director of Research and Development of student organizations at Hayam Wuruk University.
Through my work in the organization, I can improve my organizational skills, especially managing people and finding good degrees.
I am grateful to have participated in an international research project on Youth and the Environment for 2 years.
I am always encouraged to investigate the enthusiasm of young people in my country for environmental protection and to learn more about it.
My future research on the environment is why young Indonesians participate in the environmental movement.
Very often I am disturbed by the desire to respond to what is the main cause of the growth of green communities in Indonesia.
And Norway is the best destination for my study of this issue, knowing that many youth-based environmental movements are growing in Oslo.
Therefore, my involvement in research is a very good milestone in studying the SUM Masters program.
I want to study at the University of Oslo, thanks to its high-quality education system that combines academic excellence and research-based learning systems for the core elements of students.
As the oldest and largest university in Norway, I believe that your program provides theoretical and practical insights and great innovation in the field of environmental sustainability.
I fully understand that I will learn from studying with leading professors and researchers who teach in your program.
I have met with former students of your program who currently work in my country. And I found his mind extraordinary.
When I talked to them, I was absolutely sure of my decision.
